Evolved Networks was founded in 2000 as part of the BT Exact Technologies' corporate incubator, Brightstar. It became an independent company on 01 April 2003 and is now backed by New Venture Partners (NVP). Evolved Networks was created to solve the difficulties in managing complex telecommunication access networks that require extensive manual processes and network planning systems.
The access network represents the biggest asset of any telecommunications operator and because it contains mainly unintelligent equipment - cables and outside plant - it has been difficult to automate its design and management. The axcessfirst product suite provides customers with increased service levels, improved revenue growth and substantially reduced capital and operational costs allowing them to deliver a more cost effective and efficient service to their customers.
axcessfirst Data Migration allows accurate and complete data of an operator's access cable and bearer network to be generated automatically and has recently been chosen as a principle means of migrating data into BT's new PIPeR system.
axcessfirst Planning & Design provides a highly-automated method of modifying and creating new designs for the access network by applying operator defined business rules to automate the design process. axcessfirst Planning & Design, named the Networks Optimiser in BT Wholesale, is used in new site offices to design copper and local loops in new developments.
axcessfirst Circuit Assign automates the tasks of defining, identifying and allocating the physical access network assets needed to deliver the optimum route that meets the service's requirements. axcessfirst Circuit Assign, named ADAPT in BT Wholesale, is employed in 'Plan Do' and 'NetSolve' functions to provision new customer orders.
