Walk
- Finding it hard to get to the gym, training for a marathon or fun run?
- Fed up with rising petrol prices?
- Live within a few miles of work or with access to public transport?
Have you tried walking or running to work? Walking is free, it is a great way to stay healthy and makes you feel good too.
Half an hour of daily exercise, such as walking, can reduce by half your risk of heart disease. A brisk 20 minute walk (roughly one mile) burns around 100 calories. If you find it hard fitting 30 minutes of physical activity into your already crowded schedule, our walking challenge could be your first step towards a new routine.
Use this month to see how you can include more walking during your week. Once you start feeling the benefits, you may never turn back ...
You can take part by simply walking to work or, if you are feeling competitive, you can compete against colleagues in your workplace to see who walks the most.
